x-tractor was founded in Berlin in 2005 by Blanchebln, Traum_A, Ronald Davila and La Krisis. Originally created as an independent collective, it became a registered non-profit association, x-tractor e.V., in 2023.
x-tractor is a platform for independent, multidisciplinary art and culture, bringing together artists, cultural practitioners and activists from diverse backgrounds. Over the years, the collective has developed and supported a wide range of projects and collaborations — from performances, exhibitions and events to street interventions, video projects, publications, music and streaming.
At the heart of x-tractor is an interest in the creative energy of urban cultures and contemporary artistic practices. We create spaces and projects where different forms of expression can meet, where audiences can become participants, and where artistic work can engage with social and political questions.
Participation, accessibility and a DIY approach are central to our practice. We believe that art and culture can open up spaces for exchange, experimentation and collective learning. We are particularly interested in projects that question discrimination and exclusion, encourage participation and bring artistic practices into dialogue with everyday urban life and public space.
x-tractor also develops international and intercultural networks, with a particular focus on exchanges between artists and cultural practitioners in France and Germany and with partners in Latin America, especially Colombia. These connections create opportunities for collaboration, knowledge-sharing and the visibility of diverse artistic perspectives and experiences.
The association supports both the artistic work of its members and the work of other artists, individuals and collectives. Through cultural projects, events, publications and public outreach, x-tractor aims to contribute to a diverse, independent and participatory cultural landscape — locally in Berlin and through its international networks.
Today, x-tractor e.V. brings together a diverse group of artists and cultural practitioners. Here are some of the current members of the association:
